Is Cisco going to update the learn API for CMX 10?
The Cisco Mobility Services Engine (MSE) 10 sandbox has been upgraded to 10.2, however we're having trouble starting the http server. The CMX services api docs are also linked to http server hosting the MSE virtual appliance. Cisco MSE acts as a platform (physical or virtual Cisco MSE appliance) to deploy and run the Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX) services.
Thanks for your patience while we update the CMX REST API learning lab. I will post another reply when the service is fully functional.
Sorry for the unavailability of our DevNet MSE 10 sandbox. The MSE 10 sandbox has been upgraded to MSE version 10.2.0-213, and will be available soon.
We have upgraded the Cisco Mobility Services Engine (MSE) 8 sandbox to version 8.0.120-7 and have it up and running.
Thanks for your patience while we update the CMX REST API learning labs. I will post another reply when the MSE 10 service is fully functional.
DevNet CMX 10 sandbox has been upgraded to CMX version 10.2.1-219.
Please, let us know what other features you would like to see on Cisco DevNet Learning Labs.
Any chance to have a detailed api docs?
Calling /api/location/v1/history/clients with no parameters does not work, neither using the old params does
I always get:
PRIMARY KEY column "changedom" cannot be restricted (...)
Let me ask the CMX engineering folks for answer. I'll let you know what they say. Thanks.
I spoke with a CMX API development engineer and the web /apidocs link is the current reference document. Therefore, until CMX engineering gives us a new release of the MSE REST API Guide, we will need to use earlier documents for details on parameters/attributes for each type of API requests, for example see release 8.0 below.
Cisco Mobility Services Engine REST API Guide, Release 8.0 - Cisco
Unfortunately the API described in the earlier documents does not work with cmx 10.2
Agreed. I believe things are moving so fast in IoT, et al, that it is difficult for our tech writers to keep up with the changes. However, I also believe that documentation is the most valuable thing we do in engineering. With that said, I will continue to ask what else they can provide for us. Thanks.
Would be nice if the developers at least put enough up to do the lab that is in the DevNet.
Especially since there has been such a change to the API from version 8
If Cisco is wanting people to upgrade to 10.3 soon then testers will really want to ensure that all the APIs work before migrating.
From the API docs under the /apidocs it appears that there already is a downgrade on what you can do with the API, i thought newer versions should add further functionality to the system.
As for the documentation not being available i can understand this whilst Beta testing, but when the software is available on the CCO downloads page then documentation should be available. Im doing beta with 10.2 and struggling to even get these documents or someone to just give me the lines to complete the exercise that is on the DevNet for CMX:
Also how to call how many clients are within a building/ floor/ zone for a particular time frame.
Seems to be a known issue: https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuv80842 which was also mentioned in the release notes Release Notes for Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX), Release 10.2.0 and Later - Cisco.
