Can we mix up the licensing in CUCM 8.6.2a, for example 100 CUWL with 2000 DLUs.
Currently we have arround 2000 DLU's, and we are going for the full-unified Jabber for windows. Not all the users will have the full-unified feature.
Sure you can mix UCL and CUWL on the same cluster with 7.1.5 and later
And how we can specify/assign the users belong to CUWL from the user belong to DLUs. Thanks, Ali
The software isn’t user aware it is still DLU. You have to move to version 9 to become user aware
How many DLU's full-unified On-premises Jabber for windows client takes. And will it works with only DLU's in place? Thanks, Ali
Yes for sure it will work with DLU. If it’s primary phone it will be 3 and 1 if adjunct
There will be also two additional units consumed too for on premise as per the table in the link for enabling presence.
Thanks alot, Could you plaese share above pdf file on differnt location, as I have no partener login access. Ali
Sorry it is open to only partners. Remember user licensing translates to DLU in the backend. Also remember you can swap your phone for a Jabber license as long as you have UCSS at no cost. the only time you need licensing is if you will run Jabber in addition to the phone and in which case you either need to do CUWL or look at a new program called Jabber Now that provides Jabber at a discounted cost of 95
" you can swap your phone for a Jabber license as long as you have UCSS at no cost"
I did not really understand what you mean by swapping, isn’t Jabber client use DLU's from the free DLU’s we have on CUCM?
Can we use same desk phone extension with Jabber client, with the same DLU’s?
One more thing I forget to tell you, that we have Unity Connection integrated with CM for voicemail messaging, and it uses the User connect licensing, in this case how will Jabber client deal s with licensing?
No it isn’t. In 8.X you are not entitled to Jabber just because you have DLU even though the system will allow you to use it. In fact until the Jabber Now program if you were a 8.X customer you had to pay for the Jabber license or go to CUWL STD and higher. now with the program (if your customer isn’t willing to go to 9) you can get Jabber if you are a UCL customer by swapping your desk phone for Jabber. on the other hand if you want to run Jabber in addition to your desk phone then you have to pay 95 bucks under this program which is cheaper than the old way of buying the client plus adjunct license.
Now of course if the license is CUWL STD then you don’t need to worry about it.
Everything is DLU in the backend so if you have spare CUCM will gladly give it up to clients but you have to be careful you aren’t violating any licensing rules.
