Hi,
We have a current user of CUCM 4.3 who is planning to upgrade their system into version 8. I read all ordering guide for version 8, but it seems that there is no direct path in this kind of migration or upgrade. Since our approach is to provide them with new server but reuse existing phones, my question is how they can benefit in their current phone licenses if applicable. Unlike in 7.1 where you can apply for the equivalent DLUs based on the P.O. or documents of the phones to used it in the new system. Please advise if there is a better way. I’m planning to upgrade them first to 7.1 then enrol them in the 3 on 3 promo maybe a year after to take them into version 8.

Depending on the needs of the customer and the applications they desire there are many ways to approach this. If they desire more apps beyond dial tone and VM, then going to CUWL makes sense especially since you have the program that gives 50% off list price for going to STD/PRO. So 2800 assuming have CCM + Unity can move to CUWL at a discounted price and the remaining VM users will migrate using UWL-UPG-UTY-STD(or PRO) for Unity only at a higher price since eventually you need phones and apps for them too. You can then use UCL for the difference of users who only need phones.
But if only 2800 users are interested in apps then only convert them to CUWL using the discounted price and keep everyone else UCL. Use the 3X3 program to get UCL for CUCM and Unity at a low price. keep in mind Unity is not covered, only Uconn.
