The need to automate interactions with the network is ever more obvious to anyone involved with networking. We have a plethora of tools built around legacy technologies, such as SNMP and screen scraping, but these are coming to the end of their useful lives, requiring more and more investment to sustain. We are dealing with massive amounts of data, with the expectations to deal with it quickly and effectively.

What are the tools we can use to help us navigate this territory?

In this introductory DevNet session I will talk about how YANG data models are becoming ever more pervasive across networking, and how they may be used to automate network configuration and operational management and help you scale. You can read more about how Cisco is using YANG and associated technologies to deliver OpenConfig model support on our platforms.
