Cisco Security TLS update

We are working through ensuring support for TLS 1.2 across all of our collaboration products as this is becoming a mandate/requirement for PCI compliance and from most major service providers. (SSL & TLS 1.0 is no longer supported for PCI compliance)

The plan is not only to support TLS 1.2 (which some of our products already support), but also the ability to force negotiation of TLS 1.2 only and reject TLS 1.0/1.1 connections.

No specific product commitments at this point, but we are currently targeting support in the 12.0 timeframe later this year (subject to change, of course).

PoV - Proof of Value program

Proof of Value is a great way to showcase Cisco solutions. Some are as quick as a few minutes to get a customer up and running. POV like the AMP For Endpoints or Umbrella (OpenDNS) do not require any equipment to be shipped and can be setup very quickly delivering results. Please review the POV guidelines and let David Fernandez (davidfe@cisco.com) know if you need assistance with your next POV. We are here to help!

Product: Proof of Value (POV)

New dCloud content: Firepower Management Console, Firepower Virtual Appliance and ASA with FirePower Services

Cisco dCloud is pleased to announce the availability of these complementary releases:

Cisco Firepower Management Center 6.1 Proof of Value v1

Cisco Firepower Management Center 6.1 Proof of Value (POV) v1 helps explain the POV process and includes two guides for Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Firepower on ASA (FP on ASA). The POV guides provide information on the POV process, training, software download, installation, licensing, initial configuration, customer deployment, risk report generation, and device sanitizing.

The following is an overview of the POV:

  • Schedule dCloud Firepower Management Center 6.1 POV.
  • Install/Upgrade ASA and/or Firepower appliance.
  • Add Firepower appliance to Firepower Management Center. Upgrade and apply necessary policies.
  • Let system collect data for necessary time period.
  • Export Firepower Management Center findings into executive reports and present to customer.

Cisco Firepower Virtual Appliance 6.1 Connection Lab v1

Cisco Firepower Virtual Appliance 6.1 Connection Lab v1 is used for training in conjunction with the Cisco Firepower Management Center 6.1 Proof of Value v1. The dCloud content includes virtual devices that can be added to the Firepower Management Center (FMC), simulating a real world proof of value. The devices contain a traffic generator attached to either the Virtual NGIPS or FTD devices to populate the widgets and provide information for the executive level reports generated from the FMC.

The Cisco Firepower Virtual Appliance 6.1 Connection Lab v1 has no scripted scenarios. The purpose is to provide a device with realistic traffic for connection to another dCloud session running the Firepower Management Center 6.1 Proof of Value.

Cisco ASA with Firepower Services for SMB v1.1

New Cisco ASA with Firepower Services next-generation firewalls deliver integrated threat defense, a low TCO, and simplified security management.

Small to mid-sized businesses (SMBs) and distributed enterprises are high-value targets for cyber criminals. They face costly threats that jeopardize corporate secrets, intellectual property, and customer data. And they've become an unknowing entry point for attacks against larger organizations they sell to, partner with, and buy from. These factors create a need for advanced threat defense.

SMBs and distributed enterprises have been underserved by inferior next-generation firewalls (NGFWs) and unified threat management (UTM) systems. Cisco offers advanced threat defense in a range of form factors specifically designed for your unique needs.

Get a FireJumper Stage4 Certification in only 2 days!

Partner Account Managers: I want to make you aware of an opportunity for Partner SE’s to become ATS FireJumper stage 4 certified through a two day virtual training. Like the Fire Jumper Base tour they must have passed the COLT exam (stage 2).

You are personally invited to the Security Fire Jumper Virtual Base Tour for Advanced Threat.

Our goal is to develop Partner Pre-Sales Security SEs that can lead customer engagements from sizing, scoping, and design through demonstration and proof-of-value.

The Advanced Threat Competency Area includes the Advanced Malware Protection (AMP), Threat Grid, Cyber Threat Defense (CTD), and Stealthwatch solutions. Ideal candidates have a foundational knowledge of network and device security and are interested in developing a deeper understanding of malware and endpoint security solutions. In this competency area, learners will explore AMP functions and understand how AMP integrates with network, content, and endpoint solutions. They will work with the dynamic malware analysis capabilities of Threat Grid and understand how to gain visibility into threats that evade perimeter defenses with Stealthwatch.

We require that partner SEs complete the pre-requisite of achieving Stage 2 in the competency area prior to attending by passing the associated Colt Exams. To enroll in the Firejumper program, please see the following Cisco document at:

Advanced Threat: https://communities.cisco.com/docs/DOC-57818

For more information on the Firejumper program, and its benefits, see the following Cisco document:
