Cisco Live Berlin 2017 is just around the corner with less than a month to go until the event. You can still register at this link if you haven't done so already. We have a great event for you this year with hundreds of breakout sessions, labs and technical seminars, a massive world of solutions area to discover the latest partner solutions and talk with Cisco and partner experts.

This year we will have the largest DevNet zone ever at a Cisco Live Europe event. Following the feedback we received from all of you last year, we have made the DevNet zone even better this year. We have doubled the hands-on workshop areas from 2 to 4 and can now accommodate 8 people for each workshop. We have increased the number of learning labs, there will be more classroom sessions, more panels and more demos. The IoT train has been upgraded, we are using new sensors and DevIoT as well as integration with our very own DevNet Spark bot, Devvie.

If you are interested in data center technologies, NX-OS guestshell and NX-API, I would like to invite you to register for the workshop sessions that I will be presenting on Tuesday and Thursday during Cisco Live. In order to get the most out of these 2 sessions you should be familiar with basic Python scripting, working with git and having a github.com account as well as basic Linux/Unix commands. Don't let these basic prerequisites hold you back as these sessions are hands on and if you have any questions I will be more than happy to help out.

During the DEVNET-2101, NX-OS in the Real World Using NX-API REST session we will go over an overview of NX-API, start interacting and gathering information from a NX-OSv 9k in a programmatic way and see how we can automate every day tasks with Python scripts. If time permits we will also cover Ansible modules developed specifically for NX-OS and how we can use them in our data center automation efforts.

DevNet Workshop - NX-OS in the Real World Using NX-API REST

Technical Level:  Intermediate

Session ID: DEVNET-2101

In the second session, DEVNET-2102, NX-OS in the Real World Using guestshell, we will configure an integration of NX-OS with github.com and see how we can have a configuration management system that will automatically keep track of all the configuration changes performed on a Nexus switch. We will write our own Python scripts running in guestshell as well as the EEM script to accomplish these tasks. In the second part of the workshop we will write an integration of NX-OS with Cisco Spark and will see how we can receive messages from our Nexus switches straight in our Cisco Spark client.

DevNet Workshop - NX-OS in the Real World Using guestshell

Session ID: DEVNET-2102

I'm very excited about this event and look forward to meeting all of you in person and showing you some very useful and cool things you can do with NX-API and guestshell on Cisco NX-OS.

See you in Berlin!
