    Hi All,

I would like to start developing IP Phone Services. However I am not entirely sure I understand how this works. So I was wondering if someone could please tell me if I have this correct.

The way IP services (phone apps) work is that URLs for the services are pushed to the IP Phones from Call Manager or CME. A user then accesses the services.

When the user accesses the services the phone sends an HTTP request to a web server which processes the request and then returns an XML document formatted as per the phone API over the http protocol. The phone then process the XML document and voila you have a phone app????

Would this be accurate at a high level? I have read through the APIs and the documents I could find and nothing really has told me this is exactly what happens or needs to happen. Can someone fill in the blanks for me???

    Thanks,

    Justin

    Hi Justin,

    Your description is correct.

The only thing that needs adding is stating that the phone/user will need to subscribe to the service, or the service will require an enterprise subscription. This is all set within CUCM.
