How can I determine the call state of a phone -- whether it is on-hook, in a call, etc -- from an app?

This should be easy, but I can't determine how to do it.  The CiscoIPPhoneExecute message doesn't seem to have any options for this.

    Hi,

Unfortunately I don't think that there is an easy way to do this by querying the phone directly.
You can definately use CTI - TAPI or JTAPI to get this information, but this isn't the easiest environment to develop in.
You could have a look at the CUAE product from Cisco - it makes it much easier to interact with JTAPI by providing high-level objects that do the hard work for you.
