I'm trying to make a custom directory with as little overhead as possible. I'm not a network guy by trade, so I hope I can summerize this properly.

We used to be able to easily customize our directory search fields by modifying the .asp files directly. With our new CUCM (v6.1), that luxury has been revoked. I think creating the service is well within my means, but I just need a little bit of clarification that I can't get from the mountains of documentation I've poured through.

Ideally, I'd like to create a service that allows me to directly query the directory as it exists on the Cisco device. Is this possible, and if so, how? If not, do I have to sync the Cisco database with a separate LDAP server just to facilitate my custom directory?

Everything I've read points to the LDAP search COM server, but it's unclear if that's a standalone server, a Call Manager server, or even compatible with what we're now running. Any help, resource, or nudge in the right direction is appreciated.

Nevermind. I figured out how to feed an argument to the xmldirectorylist.jsp file and get results that way. Now that's low overhead!
