In Cisco EnergyWise Orchestrator, there is a column for "Device Family" for each device found in the domain.  For switches, this column says "Switch."  For access points, it says "WAP."

How does an agent control this field?  Our device current says "Unknown," though we are reporting EW_ATTRIBUTE_TYPE_DEVICE_TYPE as a string that contains the model information of our unit.

Thanks,
Chris

The "Device Family" column in Orchestrator is populated from a table lookup based on the value returned from EW_ATTRIBUTE_TYPE_DEVICE_TYPE.  I believe they do table lookup based on the various Cisco devices and SDK devices, but do not support your device types yet, hence they are defaulting to "Unknown".

Hi Brock,

Awesome, thanks!  Sounds like we need to have a chat with the Orchestrator team, then.  I wonder who would be the right contact.  Also, do you know if they have any recommended formats for EW_ATTRIBUTE_TYPE_DEVICE_TYPE to work with this?

Hi Brock,

I'm actually in contact with Sriram on another issue anyway.  I'll add it to the queue.  :-)

Hey Chris,

Let me get in contact with Sriram and get back to you on this to see what the plans are.

Thanks!
